at University of Minnesota
January 15/16, 2009

The symposium gathered a group of participants with a wide range of knowledge of sustainable materials, including transformative, bio-mimetic, biodegradable, lightweight, switchable, and power generational materials. Participants provided a brief overview of the newest developments in a particular area of materials research or application and an assessment of where the greatest opportunities and obstacles for further research and development lie. The symposium’s agenda covered a range of issues related to building materials, with invited participants providing summary presentations in each area.
